Recent versions of PSD files work with Photoshop CS4. If you are submitting PSD files with text elements, please provide all fonts used in the file.

PDF files exported directly from QuarkXPress are unreliable. Instead, create PS files from XPress and use Distiller to create PDF files.

PDF:
PDF files must be made with Press Quality settings, with high-resolution images and all fonts embedded. Please allow for a minimum of 1/8" of bleed (1/4" bleed is preferred for die-cut projects). Crop Marks, Bleed Marks and Page Information Marks in the file are appreciated. Make sure to increase the default offset distance to at least 1/8" (again, 1/4" is preferred).

Adobe is encouraging Freehand users to switch to Illustrator.

Microsoft:
Since these programs are not intended for commercial printing, the only reliable way of submitting files is as a Press Quality PDF with high-resolution images, all fonts embedded, bleeds allowed for, and using CMYK color space.

In some cases, it is not possible to create bleed items with these programs, so the next larger page size must be used.

Please note: Most files from MacOS 9 applications will be opened and edited using MacOS X versions of software, thus making them uneditable by MacOS 9 applications.
